It has been taken in the depth range at 90 to 360 m but is               most abundant from 181 to 270 m.  It feeds primarily on fishes               and pelagic tunicates. <description><![CDATA[From Bruce Mundy, PIFSC: shortfin ariomma, <i>Ariomma brevimanus.  </i><br/>the appearance of finlets is an illusion from the incised membranes of the soft-rayed portions of the dorsal and anal fins (perhaps even damaged membranes) together with the fins being folded down. Otherwise, it looks like a perfect match with /A. brevimanus/ (e.g., the photo on page of 452 of Jack's Reef and Shore Fishes of the Hawaiian Islands).]]></description>
